Gurdwara Janam Asthan also referred to as Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, is a highly revered gurdwara that is situated at the site where the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak, was born. The shrine is located in the city of Nankana Sahib, near the city of Lahore in the Punjab province of Pakistan.
Guru Nanak’s importance results not just from his inspirational teaching but also from the practical basis he provided for a new religious movement: he established a community of his followers in Kartarpur and he appointed a successor, Guru Angad, on the basis of his devoted service.
Guru Nanak Ji (1469 -1539) was considered the founder of a new religion, i.e., Sikhism, and was the first Guru of Sikhs. He was a great Indian spiritual leader who believed in harmony and meditation in the name of the divine soul.
